Being a Midwife is My Calling
The 1st time I heard that a baby does not have to be birthed in a hospital, I knew that being a midwife was my calling. I set out shortly after to chase that calling. Lucky for me the University of New Mexico had a school of midwifery as well as a nursing school.
Women have power. In much of todays society we are told what we have to do; as women, were also often guilty of wanting to please the world, so we do what they think is best. Pregnancy is such an instinctual event that it can awaken a strength in a woman which she may not have known existed. When a woman comes from a place of confidence, the birth of her child can further propel her into a life of blessed assurance.
Qualifications And Experience
In 2006, I became certified as a nurse-midwife through Parkland Hospitals school of midwifery. Coincidentally, I also became pregnant shortly after. Having had three fabulous home births has helped me find my voice and now Im ready to help others find theirs. A healthy pregnancy and birth perpetuate the peace a woman finds when she follows her instincts and listens to what her body is telling her to do.
My husband, Reece, and I have Adelina (4), Chico (2) and Mason (8months). We live with my grandmother (90) and raise food organically.
